What Colour is Amsterdam?

When I get tired, I walk along the banks of the canals and watch the boats float by. The canals are two to three metres deep. Of course, many different kinds of fish live in them. Yum!

One day, a Dutch ship disappeared around the Cape of Good Hope, and it turned into a ghost ship. From then on it was doomed to glide over the waves forever with its phantom crew.

Liquorice sweets are called "drop" here; they are brown and sweet and salty and bitter all at the same time, like the taste of the sun, the wind and sea spray all mixed together.

Seagulls, ducks, swans, common geese and Egyptian geese, coots, grey herons and storks, pigeons, doves, and also parrots... Parrots! Who would think that?
